Libs Elliott will be at CLTMQG in March 2020!

The Charlotte Modern Quilt Guild is pleased to announce that we will host Libs Elliott, a textile artist and designer who uses technology to design modern quilts. She will be the speaker for our March meeting to be followed by 2 workshops.
Her topic for the Thursday,  March 26 lecture will be “Quilting with Code”. There is no charge to members and a $10 fee for non-members. Please note this is a change to our normal meeting day. 


On Friday, March 27, her first full-day workshop is titled “Improv Piecing with Dynamic Stripes” which covers strip-piecing and cutting triangles shapes to make a one-of-a-kind dynamic quilt. Good for all levels of quilters. Pictures are below.


On  Saturday, March 28, her second full-day workshop is titled “The Weight of Love”.  The student will cut hexies, half-hexies and triangles using the Hex-N-More ruler and assemble blocks using the Y-seam method. Good for intermediate and above quilters.  Picture is below.






The member fee for each full day class is $70. The non member fee is $90 for each full day class.  The lecture will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Thursday evening.  The workshops will be held at Selwyn United Methodist Church.

Tuesday, January 28, 2020 Meeting

Please join us for the First meeting of the New Year!

Our meeting is Tuesday, January 28 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church Ministry Building, Room C.
6:30 PM

Things to Remember:

  • It's time to pay our Dues for 2020! $40
  • The sale table will be open! There are always lots of great items to look through and they can be yours for a donation which funds our door prizes.  Also, please take a few minutes to gather a few items to add to the sale table.  You may not need it anymore, but someone else will be tickled to take it home.
  • Bring your Show and Tell! 

We will have a presentation by Kay Giese about AccuQuilts, and will bring her quilts to show.

Its going to be a full evening as we discuss the calendar for 2020 and our community project.

January 25, 2020 Sew In

Come join us for our first Sew Day of 2020 on Saturday, January 25, from 9 am to 2 pm.

This is an open sew day, so bring whatever you are working on and plan for a fun day spent with quilting friends!

We  meet at St. Gabriel Catholic Church Ministry Building in Room C.

Recap on Place Mat to Friendship Trays

The Charlotte Modern Guild's community service program to was make 600 quilted place mats to be donated to Friendship Trays - which provides Meals on Wheels to residents in need in the Mecklenburg County.  
We exceeded our goal! The Guild made 655!

In mid December Eve Howes and Loretta Sirota delivered those place mats.

A big Thank You to our guild members who took on this goal and made beautiful place mats for our community!
