December & January Events
Here are the dates of our upcoming events:
Tuesday, December 18: Holiday Party
I know we discussed a different date at the meeting, but due to a conflict the party had to be moved back to Tuesday 12/18. I hope everyone can make it. It is being held at Bianca's house and she will be sending out an evite soon. Please bring a handmade ornament to share in our swap. After all of the creativity shown in the potholder swap, I can't wait to see the ornaments.
Saturday, January 26: Sew-In
Come join us from 10-2 at Carmel Presbyterian Church (Ligon Hall)
Thursday, January 31: Next Meeting

After the holiday and year-end rush is over, take a minute and make a block for our January BOM. Each block you make gets you a chance to WIN THEM ALL. January's block is:
BLOCK - Another Star Quilt Block / Tutorial by Fresh Lemon Quilts
COLOR - Modern fabric, bright colors, white background

November Meeting Recap
Fun things at our November meeting...
- Elizabeth P. won the BOM drawing
- There were wonderful and creative potholders swapped
- Kat taught a great mini workshop on reverse applique
- There were some wonderful scrap quilts, gifts and other beauties shown during Sew & Tell. There are lots of pictures over on the Flickr Group. Go check them out!

We're swapping ornaments at our Holiday PartyDecember 20 (new date is 12/18 - more details to come) at Bianca's house.
Feel free to create any ornament you would like as long as it is handmade and please use modern fabrics in your design.

Spring Retreat: Can you join in the fun?

I know April sounds far away, but we need to gauge interest and #s so plans can move forward. If possible, please sign-up at the November meeting or email your interest to Joyce.

What a fun day!
Rotary cutters were rolling, sergers and sewing machines were flying, and irons were steaming!! Today we made 100, YES, ONE HUNDRED pillowcases to donate to the Charlotte organization Beds For Kids. http://www.bedsforkids.org
We had eleven members and 1 "cutie pie junior member" join us for a fun day of sewing, laughs and lots of productivity.
We hit the 50 pillowcase mark around noon and thought "Maybe we can make it to 75?".
Then we hit the 75 pillowcase mark and our "cutie pie junior member" proclaimed "I bet we can make it to 100!".
Encouraged and inspired we kept going until we made it all the way to 100!!!
Thank you so much to Springs Creative for donating the many bolts of cheerful fabric and to Carmel Presbyterian Church for letting us use their wonderful facilities. Thank you, thank you!
We were also able to cut the fabrics for 50 more pillowcases and we will bring those kits to our next meeting. The pillowcases are so fun and easy to make. We hope to complete these 50 additional pillowcases soon and pass them along to new happy homes.
